When might you need to do a house clearance?
If you are a landlord and have rented out a property, the tenants have left (perhaps in a rush) and have left the property in a state.

• De-clutter the entire home, have boxes to hand and separate all the things that you wish to sell, keep, donate, recycle, store or throw away. Once you have finished this de-cluttering process the entire property should be empty.
• Rubbish can be thrown away straight away, donations should be collected and taken to a local charity, anything you wish to keep should be stored securely. The things you wish to sell should be considered, are they good enough to sell privately or would a car boot sale suffice? Start advertising items to sell, or looking for a car boot sale you can go to. Recycling should be sorted and separated into categories such as paper, plastic, metals etc. and you should consider where and how you are going to get rid of these. Remember that there are some things that cannot be disposed of or recycled with everything else, these include:

• Light bulbs, energy saving bulbs and fluorescent tubes
• Oil
• Paints
• Car batteries
• Electrical equipment such as televisions, computer monitors, fridges and freezers
• If you are using a clearance company then they should provide you with a waste disposal note or a receipt detailing the company information and showing that the rubbish from your home is now their responsibility to dispose of properly.
