Tips on How to Clean Your Carpets on Your Own

By Luke Armstrong

Nowadays one can easily clean almost his entire house on his own, without the need to call a professional cleaner. However, carpets can be tricky. Sometimes you don’t know how exactly to treat a spot. In this article we will reveal some tricks on how you can clean your carpet at home, without the need to call a professional cleaner, no matter of the origin of the stain or of the material of the carpet. In the second part of the article we will discuss the advantages of a professional cleaner and when it is good to hire one to have your carpets cleaned.
Cleaning CarpetYou can clean most everyday stains using just clean warm water and some sort of laundry liquid or powder. Dissolve a tablespoon of powder into a big container, filled with at least one liter of water. Then dip a white rag or cloth into the homemade detergent. After this gently rub with the dirty spot with the rag. However, remember that you should rub your carpet gently. Otherwise you may damage it. Remember to use a white piece of cloth or a white rag. If there is no white rag on your disposal, simply use a light coloured one. Otherwise you may add to the stain instead of cleaning it. After the stain is gone remember to clean the carpet of the detergent itself.

Except a laundry liquid you can use a shampoo. The principle is pretty much the same. Furthermore, you can enhance the effect using various other add-ons. Among them are lemon acid, hartshorn, and many more. Just add a small amount to the water.

It is advisory to vacuum your carpets at least once a week.

Still, there are times when a professional touch is required. Even if you vacuum off your carpets regularly they are extremely attractive to the finest pieces of dust and they cannot be sucked in by a regular vacuum cleaner. Thus, with time your carpets collect more and more dust, which threatens your health with each step on the carpet because some small amount of it is thrown by the carpet when you step on it. Since the dust consists of tiny pieces of dirt, they cannot be stopped by the hairs in our nostrils. The result is that they are absorbed with the air we breathe and fall in our lungs. As it was said, you can hardly protect yourself from this damage. However, a professional cleaner will be able to clean the carpet thoroughly enough and to remove even this sort of dust from it. The professional cleaning companies use a technology known as the dry-cleaning.
